25 years with and for renewable energies
25 years have now passed since the foundation of Awite was laid: the business registration in the city of Munich and the company’s headquarters in a small apartment near the Theresienwiese on 19th January 2000. On 17th April 2000, the second shareholder, still active today, came on board, and shortly after, a third shareholder left us for a visionary emigration to Brazil. This path was revisited nearly 20 years later – successfully and at the right time.
Soon after, we moved into our first production facility, just a few metres from the current headquarters, in a small garden house that had previously served as an office for a horticulture business: 20 m² of production and office space. We came to love the place, and despite two relocations, we have only moved a few metres from the original location in Niederhummel and now operate in sustainable, modern buildings.
Starting with the first EEG (Renewable Energy Act) in Germany on 1st April 2000, we have evolved – like the EEG itself – through many changes, highs, and lows, establishing ourselves as specialists in gas analysis systems for renewable applications with a strong international reputation.
Today, 65 wonderful colleagues work with and for Awite in Germany, Italy, and Brazil. Together with 25 (again a milestone number) strong partners, we are well-positioned for further international growth.
In line with our 25th anniversary, we are packaging decades of industry expertise into our soon-to-be-launched mobile Awi2GO.

Production Start of Awi2GO
We are pleased to announce that in mid-December 2024, we received the EU type examination certificate (BMPB) for our new product, the Awi2GO. This milestone allowed us to assemble the first series production Awi2GO just before Christmas. Since then, we have been steadily ramping up production in Niederhummel to ensure we are well-prepared for the upcoming product launch.
However, the Awi2GO still has one final hurdle to clear: the quality management audit for explosive-proof products/production (DIN EN ISO 80079-34), which is scheduled for mid-February 2025. Once we receive this certification, we will begin sales of the Awi2GO.
The Awi2GO has already had a positive impact on Awite, as both our team and facilities have been well-prepared for the new product.
Awi2GO who, how, what
The Awi2GO is the mobile companion for anyone working in the field of renewable gases – from plant operators to consultants, and service technicians on-site. It is ready for use in just 30 seconds. With the ability to analyse up to 6 gases (CH4, CO2, CO, O2, H2S und H2) in just 60 seconds, you can quickly get an overview – even in explosive environments.
Thanks to its IP67 protection rating, neither dust nor rain will make life difficult for the Awi2GO. All of this is made possible with intuitive operation and long battery life, thanks to the lithium-ion battery – as simple as using a mobile phone. High measurement accuracy, easy calibration, and optional additional pressure and temperature measurement? Check!
Keep everything in view with easy storage for up to 2,000 plants, 4,000 measuring points, and 75,000 measurements. All securely stored in a robust case, ready for action. Starting in QI, it’s all systems “GO”.
