System Number 5000 Goes to Bioenergie Dernekamp
A special milestone for Awite: Our 5000th gas analysis system has been commissioned at Bioenergie Dernekamp in Dülmen (https://www.bioenergie-dernekamp.de)!
It was a special moment – celebrated in style by Britta from Sales and service technician Tom, together with the on-site team – and of course, not without some well-deserved refreshments!
Since its initial commissioning in 2011 by PlanET, the biogas plant has been continuously developed – through targeted expansions and ongoing adaptation to new opportunities and framework conditions.
At Bioenergie Dernekamp, a holistic approach has been followed right from the start: both at the main site and at the satellite location, a local heating network ensures efficient heat supply. The biogas plant is also equipped with a digestate drying system including a dry matter storage facility. In 2020, plant operation was made even more flexible – including the addition of a fourth CHP unit with 1,500 kWel, a thermal buffer tank with 1,000 m³ capacity, and a second fermenter with 2,800 m³.
The new Gas Analysis 5000 will now monitor biological processes at seven measuring points and provide precise data on gas quality – CH₄, CO₂, and O₂. The system is equipped with two H₂S sensors covering measuring ranges of 0–200 ppm and 0–1,500 ppm – ensuring detailed and reliable analysis of the plant.
Thanks to the automatic measuring range switching between the two H₂S sensors, measurements initially take place in the wider range. If the detected value falls below 200 ppm, the sensor with the narrower range is automatically activated – enabling even more accurate monitoring. Overloading of the smaller H₂S sensor is reliably avoided. This ensures that Bioenergie Dernekamp is well prepared for the use of advanced substrates, which will place greater demands on operational management in the future.
An additional hydrogen (H₂) sensor allows for the early detection of biological disturbances – another key component in ensuring the plant’s operational safety.
Seven measuring points are monitored via our external multipoint measurement switch AwiSamplex 7-fold – but the system’s future potential doesn’t stop there: an extension of the Gas Analysis 5000 to include overpressure membrane roof monitoring according to TRAS 120, as well as the integration of another tank, is already in the planning stages.

Just Like in the Script: Summer Festival 2025
Once again this year, Awite’s traditional summer festival was a wonderful gathering on our green marquee lawn in the company garden.
To mark our 25th anniversary, the atmosphere was especially joyful – alongside much-loved classics such as roast pig, bouncy castle and draught beer, this year brought some exciting new highlights: mechanical bull riding, a clown, prize draws, a cocktail bar and much more brought smiles to the faces of young and old alike.
We’re truly delighted that our festival community has continued to grow over the past quarter of a century – with families, colleagues, partners and former employees all coming together.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who joined us – and especially to the dedicated helpers for their fantastic efforts!
